Members of the armed forces no longer have to pay the initial real estate licensing fee as long as the veteran applies within 24 months of an honorable discharge. Licensees who are members of the armed forces are exempt from renewal requirements while on active duty and for six months after discharge (but can’t be engaged in the profession.) The member’s spouse has the same exemption if he or she does not practice real estate and is absent from the state because of the member’s duty with the armed forces.
