After successfully completing this topic, you will be able to describe the difference between a licensure and registration.
Only individual brokers, broker associates, or sales associates who qualify through experience, character and education can receive a license after passing the state exam. Non-broker officers or directors of a brokerage corporation may be registered, but not licensed.
Registration is the process of entering information into the DBPR’s records. Examples would be business entities like corporations and partnerships, the names of brokers and sales associates, and the names of the persons or entities that employ those licensees. Sales associates must register with a broker or owner developer before performing real estate activities.
